I love talking all things health and fitness, but sometimes we have to talk some fun girl stuff too, so here it goes! Our daughters first year was really rough. I was in survival mode, not pamper mode. It was a good day if I washed my face and put makeup on for work, before leaving my house (instead of at my work desk)!! So, I feel like I have come a long way, being able to write a post about my bath and closet essentials. If you’re in survival mode, hang in there mama, I promise it will pass! In the meantime, pour yourself a cup of coffee, and indulge for a few minutes.
Essential 1: Zella Leggings
If you don’t have a pair of these yet, you need to go to Nordstrom.com now and order a pair. They will change your life! Actually in all seriousness, I have a hard time stomaching these full price, because they usually go on major discount during the Nordstrom half-yearly sale. But, if you are looking for the best, versatile pair of leggings ever, go snag yourself a pair of Zella’s! I live in mine. They are thick, wash up so well, and suck everything in, in all the right places!
Essential 2: Dolce Vita Sneakers
These sneakers are the best kept secret ever (I really am convinced of this). I get a compliment on mine every single time I wear them. I bought these last year at DSW and they sold out before I thought to buy a second pair. BUT! Target came out with them this year, same brand and all, just slightly darker than my original pair. They are super comfortable and go with so much.
Essential 3: NYX Makeup Primer
Can we just talk about how amazing makeup primer is?! Primer gives your makeup a smooth, flawless look and helps it to stay on for hours! It’s super quick and easy to lather on your face before applying your foundation and is well worth it! Primer can get a little expensive, but I buy this NYX Primer for a very reasonable price and I find it to work just as well as many of the expensive options!
Essential 4: Beautycounter Nourishing Cream Cleanser
If you aren’t familiar with Beautycounter, its mission is to get safe products into the hands of everyone. The company has a growing list of over 1,500 ingredients that they will not allow in their products. According to beautycounter.com, the European Union has banned more than 1,300 chemicals in the formulas of personal care products. The United States has only partially banned 30 to date. Yikes! I absolutely love their nourishing cream cleanser. It is really gentle on my skin and does not cause any irritation. Furthermore, I love knowing I am putting a safe product on my skin.
Essential 5: Anastasia Beverly Hills – Brow Powder Duo
This eyebrow powder creates a soft and natural effect on your eyebrows! I have tried several eyebrow pencils and while they work, I love that this one is an actual powder. It does not show any hard lines and it stays on all day. It is a little pricier than a lot of other options, but you get your money’s worth because it lasts forever. (I use medium brown duo color)
Essential 6: Pureology Hydrate Shampoo
I’m 32 and the grey hair is coming in full force. No shame, it’s in my genes, it’s just really annoying! I have tried so many shampoo’s that leave my color dull and faded. It is frustrating when it looks great after getting colored, then after a month, it takes on this dull, red tone. Hair colorists tell me it looks “warm” but I still find it to be red! After much research and word of mouth, I decided to try out Pureology. It holds my color so much longer and the shampoo itself has gentler ingredients than most of its competitors. (I have found it cheapest on Amazon)
Essential 7: St. Tropez Self Tan Bronzing Mousse
I was on the hunt for a self-tanner for the longest time, and a fashion blogger that I follow (and really value as a reputable source), blogged about St. Tropez Self Tan. I bought it and have been really happy with it. You do need to apply it with a glove (I use this one) otherwise you’ll be a blotchy mess! But it turns color as soon as you put it on, it doesn’t leave you feeling sticky or caked on, and it has no orange tint to it.
Essential 8: Clinique Sonic System Purifying Cleansing Brush
Do you ever feel like you wash your face, but don’t really get all of the makeup off? You need a cleansing brush! While I am not an expert on cleansing brush brands, if you are looking for a moderately priced option, I have been really happy with my Clinique Purifying Cleansing Brush. The sonic movement offers deep yet gentle cleansing in those hard to reach places, and leaves my skin feeling so clean and fresh!
Essential 9: Thieves Mouthwash
Do you ever feel like mouthwash leaves a bad aftertaste in your mouth and it really doesn’t do the job? You won’t feel this way with Thieves. It leaves your mouth feeling so fresh and clean every time, with no gross aftertaste. Plus, the ingredients are much safer for you than many other options. My husband was using “a certain” mouthwash for the longest time. He would always say, “yuck, I still have a bad taste in my mouth,” then go take more mouthwash! So, not too long ago, I said, “Will you please just try my Thieves mouthwash to see what you think?” I kind of regret doing this now, because he loved it and is now a mouthwash hog! We go through SO much! But, it really does work great and I feel better knowing he is putting a safe product in his mouth. If you know someone who sells Young Living essential oils, you can purchase this from a distributor or find it on Amazon as well.
Essential 10: Flowerbomb Perfume
This perfume is dreamy. I don’t wear it every day, because it is a little pricier, so I save it for when I actually take a shower, do my hair, and wear something other than yoga pants! But, I always get compliments on it. It holds its fragrance for a long time, and you only need 1 to 2 squirts. I feel like it is one of those timeless sense that I can wear for years.
I hope you enjoyed the roundup of my 10 favorite bath and closet essentials! With Christmas just around the corner (yes I said it) these are some great gifting options as well!!! Happy shopping!!!
